Our Story

Creatives Climate Café

A movement born from the belief that creative expression is one of the most powerful catalysts for climate action.

About the Café

How It All Began

Launched in 2022 by JulietGrace while she was still a volunteer with the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change, the Creatives Climate Café emerged from a simple but powerful question: how do we make climate change feel real, urgent, and personal — especially for young people?

Traditional climate education often falls short in reaching hearts and minds. We recognized that art, storytelling, and performance have the power to do what data alone cannot — bridge the emotional and intellectual gap between knowing about climate change and actually caring enough to act.

Today, the dream is to make the Creatives Climate Café a thriving creative community of young artists, poets, performers, and activists who channel their talents into climate communication and advocacy.

What Drives Us

Our Core Values

Four principles that guide everything we create, every conversation we host, and every community we serve.

Youth Agency

Young people are not just participants — they are the leaders, creators, and change-makers driving this initiative forward.

🌍

Cultural Relevance

We center locally resonant stories and forms of expression to ensure climate conversations reach every community.

⚖️

Environmental Justice

We believe climate action must be equitable, inclusive, and grounded in the lived experiences of those most affected.

🎨

Creative Power

Art breaks barriers that data cannot. We harness creativity as the most human tool for inspiring transformation.
